Weaving the possibilities of materials into the future.
Fashion and jewelry that add color to our lives.
Behind their beauty lie limited natural resources, vast amounts of energy,
and the skills and time of people.
At the same time, in the manufacturing sectors including the fashion and
jewelry industries, there are challenges that must be addressed for a sustainable society,
such as resource consumption, waste generated during production, and the long-term use of products.
Not only creating beautiful things,
but also protecting the value of what already exists and continuing to use it carefully for a long time.
We believe that this, too, is an important perspective required
in the manufacturing of the future.
Don't make beauty disposable.
“TSUMUGI” is a sustainable initiative by ama ú that connects
the effective use of resources with Japanese craftsmanship.
In the apparel industry, there are fabrics that remain unused due to
cutting scraps generated during the manufacturing process or the discontinuation of production.
Among these are many materials, including silk and natural fibers,
that possess excellent quality and beauty.
ama ú turned its attention to the new
possibilities of these fabrics.
Using high-quality scraps and surplus fabric,
artisans in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, carefully craft
each pouch by hand.
The finished pouches are used as
gift packaging to wrap ama ú’s jewelry wash.
By bringing out the texture and individuality of the materials,
we give a new purpose to fabrics that would have otherwise remained unused.
It is also an initiative that respects the skill and time imbued in the materials,
passing their value on to the next generation.
Cherish what matters, now and always.
With proper care, jewelry can be enjoyed
for its beauty for many years to come.
At ama ú, we believe that jewelry is valuable not only when worn,
but also during the time spent caring for it.
Cherishing jewelry and enjoying it for a lifetime. Making good use of limited materials without waste,
and giving them new life. Valuing the craftsmanship and skills of those involved in making things.
What all of these have in common is the desire to re-examine the value we have today
and "weave" it into the future.
Through "TSUMUGI," we will contribute to the effective use of fiber resources and the reduction of waste,
while aiming for sustainable manufacturing that makes use of local craftsmanship.
A new story from a single piece of fabric.
Weaving beauty into the future.
